Tasa Houses
The project presents a series of homes that reimagine scenes of suburban life within Melbourne’s middle ring. The linear plan allows rooms to be flooded with fresh air and natural light through openings on all sides, embracing a sense of openness and independence.
The datum spanning the length of the building determines the relationships between spaces, providing a transition from public to private, while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors. Stacked and elevated, the design balances domestic intimacy within an adaptable communal framework.
The restrained palette of lightweight materials blends vernacular Australian sentiments with environmental responsiveness, achieving an outcome which expresses humility, simplicity and generosity.
