Lykkegaard
The Lykkegaard’s main intent is to reconnect people with what many have lost in this fast paced and globalized age; A connection to their community, neighbours, nature, and the resources they consume. The project is designed to feel like a modern village and offers a variety of community shared amenities and spaces, while s ll providing ample private indoor and outdoor spaces. The pinwheel shape of the buildings allows every apartment to be triple aspect, enjoy two separate private outdoor spaces, and get light and ventilation on from three directions. The placement of the buildings frame inmate smaller courtyard spaces, while strategic window placements and flexible screening systems protects inhabitants’ privacy and allows them to withdraw. All structures and circular on paths are elevated above the ground plane, which is densely planted with diverse vegetation to support a flourishing ecology and provide habitats for insects and animals. The rainwater collect on and aquaponics food product on systems are celebrated and visible elements of the design in an aim to restore the inhabitant’s connect on to and understanding of the food and water they consume and create a sustainable and more self-sufficient community. Lykkegaard offers a modern solution to apartment living where the inhabitants will be encouraged to nurture a connect on to their community, the resources they consume, and nature.
