neoteric.
This project aims to rehabilitate the promises made by the modernist movement - to break with the past and search for the new and better. neoteric takes the first step by looking to improve the condition of the home, aiming to make people more open to collaborative living. the organisation of space is reconsidered for the individual unit and collective through a functionalist and minimalist approach. after all, architecture is a promise of what could be and should:
BE COLLABORATIVE. we are social creature. neoteric offers possibilities for collaborative living and allows for the blurring between public and private be generously giving more space and disbanding 'traditional' barriers.
ALLOW FOR CHANGE. "flexibility means allowing freedom." spaces within the project allow for a freedom os use and possibilities for approproation due to the their carefully considered dimensions. the only fixed aspects are the kitchen and bathroom, but even then, they have been re-examined. this allows for the architecture to continuously adapt.
LISTEN TO PEOPLE. with collaboration and community living, there must still be dwellings for the more private individuals. three varieties of units have been designed to accomodate for varying social desires and household types.
BALANCE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INSIDE/ OUTSIDE. there shall be no creation of a 'concrete city.' all units are dual orientation with adequate solar access and ventilation. facades that receive a lot of sunlight have the option to be closed off with blinds if desired. the careful planning of outdoor spaces, planting, and gardens have also been included.
BECOME A HOME THROUGH PERSONALISATION. we must create for the user and not force roles as a deisngers. in neoteric, exposed steel and conrete are utilised to create elegant, generous and affordable spaces. only the absolute basics are provided so interiors can be open for user customisation as, "a concrete wall is better than a bad paint job and anyone can decide to paint a wall later on."
