Connection Within

The project celebrates a delicate equilibrium in the meaningful connection between residents, nature, and community through the redefinition of space.

The massing layout is considered through simple rotations and translations which create landscapes at different scales. Three large linear buildings are meticulously arranged on the site at different angles, creating outdoor gardens that allow residents to gather. The integration of greenery in between the timber decking softens the rigid lines of the paired buildings facing each other. In order to respond to the natural slope of the site with an 11m height difference, the floor levels of some building blocks are raised, creating an open and intimate communal space. The elevated buildings are carefully designed not only to preserve the inherent characteristics of the site, but also to blur the boundaries between the building block and the surrounding landscape.

Within each building, a set of dwellings is designed to meet various needs based on diverse demographics. Despite differing sizes and typologies, steel column grids and a concrete core system are present across all units. Under the rigorous consistency of the overall arrangement rule, the flexibility and adaptability of each unit can be achieved by the folding door in accordance with the change of household structure.

Inviting interactions not just among people, but also with space and nature, breathing life into every corner, creating a vibrant and harmonious living environment within a community.
