IN-EX Initiation

The IN-EX Initiation looks to promote a living environment that surrounds notions of growth, sustainability, and simplicity. This social housing development scheme serves as a platform to invite individuals to form relationships within the community of their residence, creating and enriching opportunities for friendships and communal  living.

As such, The IN-EX Initiation proposes a design scheme that celebrates the “in-between” spaces by highlighting the importance of community throughout the site. This is done so by interweaving the communal spaces in and around the living quarters thoroughout the project site. By doing so, it allows for relationships to be established as a result of facilitating notions of incidental meetings, supporting ideas of growth between individuals.

This co-living scheme also aims to create a space that allows all users to commune where they see fit, based on their personality types. The dispersion of dwellings are allocated based on introversion or extroversion. This means that users may dwell in areas that fit their personality type the most, ensuring a safer and more comfortable environment to reside in.

The IN-EX Initiation is populated with a modular design approach across the site, allowing for pre-fabricated, and recycled elements to be included in the design scheme, promoting a sustainable way of life from the planning phase of the project. The limited material palette evokes a sense of simplicity, reminding users that houses turn into homes with the people that live in it.
